This is driving me ***king insane and my blood pressure through the roof!
I am supposed to be a writer for Christ sake.
Right. The problem is my cursor appears to jump all over the place. By that I mean I can be typing, and when I look up I find it has either sent my document into the bloody ether, as has happened with several posts I have tried to write on here, or it has overtyped what I have just written.
It just happens all the time now and I'm pulling my bloody hair out!
Windows Vista Home Professional.
Laptop : E System 1212
Please help me, I have tried several forums but there appears to be no conclusive answer.

Are you brushing against the touchpad without realising it? That can cause those sort of problems.
Personally I always disable them and use an external mouse. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends

I have seen this many of times on Dell notebooks but not this brand. The issue on the Dell notebooks was the pointer stick which is sometimes in between the keys would fail and when you start typing would send the course to the top or bottom corner of the screen.
The way to fix this was to disable the pointer stick on the keybaord in the control panel or the software for the pointer.

Thanks Bill & Chris,
I will try disabling the pointer thingy, but if I do, wont that disable my mouse pretty much anyway?
Think I need to get a separate mouse and use that. You would not believe the grief this causes..."If you are going through Hell, keep going" - Winston Churchill0 -
On most laptops you can select the Pointer to Disable if u have one and then Keep the Touch Pad and Buttons active thats if its a faulty pointer.
If you are working on a laptop alot why not get a docking station or port replicator and leave the laptop docked so you can use a normal keybaord and mouse and a normal size screen

If you disable it you will lose your control of the pointer. It may be worth trying to borrow a USB mouse to test it and see if that is the problem before buying one. It's my problem, it's my problem

I use a separate mouse (usb) on mine which is a Dell. I use a really small mouse which I carry with it
From memory there should be a program in taskbar which Dell include to disable/enable the touchpad after you finished0 -
I have just checked 'Hide pointer while typing' in pointer options tab in Control Panel. I have just typed this and so far I have not had a problem but I think the ultimate answer is a USB Mouse. There doesnt appear to be an option for disabling the pointer completely. Having said that, this is a cheap machine so maybe I shouldn't expect tooo much."If you are going through Hell, keep going" - Winston Churchill0

Sounds like that may have done the trick. I always disabel them as I just find a mouse so much easier to use and it avoids these sort of annoyances. It's my problem, it's my problem
