My Uncles in the market for a laptop, his budget is no more than £500.
He will be using it for browsing the internet, office work and has just got into photography and has a decent DSLR so processor, memory and HDD space are imprtant.
A "nice to have" would be a good battery as he would like to take it with him when he's out taking pictures.
Does anyone know of any good deals within his price range?

a bog standard dell would be fine for that kind of stuff, keep an eye on their website for offers, if he's going to be throwing large numbers of photos about it'll probably be much more economical to get a big external mains powered drive (£60-70 for 1.5 TB +) to keep the bulk of them on separately rather than upgrade the laptop hard drive as thats more £ per gigabyte.
check the battery has at least 6 cells
PPS also on the big file size if he's able to find one with eSATA or firewire ports file transfers will be a bit faster0 -
Well I was looking at the Inpiron 15's that start at £299, but when you select that the cheapest model they do is £350 so I'm not too sure about that now!
EDIT: Found the £299 model!0 -
I think https://www.dmxdimension.com also have reasonable offers on Dells too,0
