bounced cheque help please

My wife and i bought a kitchen from Kitchen`s Direct, gave the salesman a posted dated cheque for £500 deposit just in case we changed our mind. We did change our mind and phoned them back 2 days later and canceled the kitchen which was fine but then 2 weeks later they have cashed the cheque and now we have charges for a bounced cheque.

We phoned up KD but they say they dont refunds charges for bounced cheques we should of had enough money in the account blah blah.............

Can i doing anything about this?

thanks

Why didn't you contact your bank to cancel the cheque when you cancelled the kitchen.

Why did KD cash the cheque when they'd agreed to cancel the kitchen order?

With hindsight you should have cancelled the cheque, but obviously too late for that now...

Your only option is writing to KD (recorded delivery) stating that they cashed a cheque that was not theirs to cash (due to agreement of order cancellation), and thus they now owe you <£amount> due to insufficient funds in your account at the time.

Or was the £500 a non refundable deposit??? What did your contract with them say?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
