My Job Role was changed during consultation period

Sorry if this is on board already but I cannot find the answer.

Can my employer change my role during the 12 week consultation period?

The implications are that if I am TUPE to new company I will be transferred at a lessor grade and with less money.

  • A company can change your role if it is a job of equal value. Less salary and a reduction in grade would probably not be considered equal value, unless it is a negligible amount.

You have said that there are 12 weeks consultation - I take it then that there are more than 100 staff likely to be made redundant? If that is the case then they cannot make changes to the jobs as this would be seen as effecting redundancy before the completion of consultation which is illegal.

That is what I am querying. I will make use of my free legal cover provided by the union and see what the outcome is.
