I've not used any of the debt management people like CCCS etc as I'm doing my own plan, but I think the reaction you got from them is really unusual. Try PayPlan or National Debtline.
I suppose you could ring them, but follow it up with a letter.DMP mutual support number 174Total debt now (April 10) £0! - total paid off £30,221 or 100%I'm now debt free after 6 years!!:jNon smoker since June 2006 :j0 -
Thanks, you've been a great help so far! :T
I've decided to write in the first instance, this is what I've drawn up:
as per usual request, any amendments needed? In reply to your letter dated 17th July 2006 on the above accounts which requested I make an increased offer as settlement, due to my previous offers being declined by your clients.
I would now like to inform you that my relative has now withdrawn the offer, but I would welcome an offer of a full and final settlement fee in the future.
Due to the above, please find enclosed a cheque totalling £143.07 for payment on my account for the month of August 2006, but I shall be contacting you soon regarding a payment plan.0 -
Sorry I wasn't on last night. This letter looks great - clear and concise with no room for anything to be misconstrued by them.
Best of luck.DMP mutual support number 174Total debt now (April 10) £0! - total paid off £30,221 or 100%I'm now debt free after 6 years!!:jNon smoker since June 2006 :j0 -
Hi. Their letters are meant to panic you. Pay a minimum offer - you need to have money to live on. When you reply say that due to their prolonging the situation, your relative no longer has £1000 available. Leave out the limited time bit. Maybe send them a budget sheet to show them you can't take nothing from nothing. Or you could approach the actual companies you owe as these people are just collecting the debt. Also mention to the company that the collecting agency are continually rejecting your offer and that you want to make an offer to honour your debt at £X's a week.
Hope this helps."If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought." ~ by Peace Pilgrim.***'You just got Tiffed!'
