Just a quickie in between cooking the tea. Only contact them in writing. This sounds like a template letter that they send out as a matter of course.
I'll try to get back on later to speak some more.DMP mutual support number 174Total debt now (April 10) £0! - total paid off £30,221 or 100%I'm now debt free after 6 years!!:jNon smoker since June 2006 :j0 -
As a last throw of the dice call them and tell them your relative is withdrawing the offer at the end of the month and this is a final offer of £1000. If they refuse you could offer something like 1020 saying 20 is your own money (obviously if you don't have the 20,then don't do this). If they still refuse then walk away. If they accept then get it in writing before doing anything.

I dont know much about it but from reading peoples experiences WOULD go with advice posted above & go via ccs or payplan because some of this stress will be removed. Think they are also less likely to much you about than if you deal with it yourself...Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

Right, the kids are both in bed!
I personally wouldn't call them because you have no confirmation of their decision. I know it takes more time, but it's worth it for peace of mind. If they agree on the phone to accepting your offer, and then you send it, it could be construed as a payment off your account and not a final settlement fee.
I also wouldn't offer any more money, they will look for even more and will keep going until they get what they want, not what you're offering.
I agree that you should contact them (in writing) to say that your relative is withdrawing their offer, and that you will be contacting them soon (via PayPlan or whoever). Leave it at that. They will either contact you for a settlement fee, or won't. If they don't at least you will know that you've done your best to pay it off, and a repayment plan will have to do.

Thanks for the help, I plan to call cccs and write a letter stating the withdrawal of this offer tomorrow, a little worried as I have no payment in place for August and need to set this up one way or another!0

I would just give them a one off payment of somewhere near what you think your monthly amount is. I'd send a cheque with your letter explaining that it is a token payment until you are able to set up the repayment scheme.DMP mutual support number 174Total debt now (April 10) £0! - total paid off £30,221 or 100%I'm now debt free after 6 years!!:jNon smoker since June 2006 :j0

Ok I shall crack on with a letter stating just that and including my monthly payment in cheque form.milliejon wrote:I would just give them a one off payment of somewhere near what you think your monthly amount is. Also I called CCCS to get some advice, sadly they didn't seem interested and couldn't help me in my situation.0 -
When I was in a position to settle some of my debts alst October, I rang, then asked for any settlement offers to be put in writing, with an expiry date.
Then I could work out which were the best ones to act on.
Good luck..;)2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I know I should be writing a letter to them (and probably will) but I am so tempted to call them and discuss a settlement.0
