co-operative cc

Hi

just a quick question, i currentley have £7500 o\s on Co-operative back CC, I'm not planning on using it for anymore purchases. The Co-operative are charging approx £120 per month interest.

I've seen the Virgin 0% card and was thinking of applying, how easy is this to do and will they still give me the same credit limit. If i apply and they give me a lower credit limit can i transfer part of my co-operative CC. Never done a balnce trf before so alittle weary. :o

No harm in applying, out of interest what is the credit limit on you co-op cc
Only MBNA can tell you if they will match your current limit,

If they can't match your limit just take what the offer and balance transfer as much as possible.

My credit limit with Co-op is £11.5k but this was taken out when i worked full time over 8 years ago, I now work part time, approx £10k a year but mortgage paid off, i've never switched or missed a payment in the whole 8 years. I'll try and apply for the Virgin CC see if they will accept me. :o

Can I ask what your APR is with the Co-op as they maybe willing to lower it, if it is now at their minimum.

I say this out of noticing that when "the computer says no", Co-op staff in Personal Lending use common sense and have personal autonomy to go ahead and override things like this. Although it may take a letter of request/complaint to Executive complaints to get it to happen.

I am sure they would prefer you stayed with them, oh and I dont work for them, I just bank with them and find them to be really good. I know plenty of people who get told "computer says no" and when I have had the same problem, it has been a case of "okay, you can have your credit limit raised for 3 days until the payment hits then we are putting it back". I got what I asked for.

I doubt any credit card provider will touch you with a barge pole with a 10K salary and that much of a CC balance!!

You'll really want to start at home negotiating a lower rate with Co-Operative.

Seems you have a 19.9% APR with Co-Op at the moment, their advertised rates range from 9.9% to 15.9%. Point this out to them and see what they offer.

    Good luck!
