Think i have just ruined a lovely friendship as well as messed up my friends computer.
samsung netbook on windows xp - IE wouldnt open we reinstalled using the xp disc - now cant even open windows (just got an empty desktop with 'the view ' graphics.
used the basic samsug recovery mode - still no luck.
(just to make my probs worse we couldnt find key(rubbed off sticker on laptop) so didnt re register it when it asked.
when we switch it on we get user accounts - key in the password it asks us ' do you want to register' we say yes then it just goes to 'the view'
please dont tell me (unless you really have to !) that i have done big damage. Have we lost it all?
thanking you all in advance
xx

...it just goes to 'the view'
Not quite sure what you mean by this, but you will need the product key to activate Windows. It might be worth choosing to activate by phone, then explain the situation to Microsoft. They might let you re-activate... if not you'll probably need to buy another copy of the OS.0 -

Did you just reinstall IE (using the add/remove windows components menu) or do a complete wipe and reinstall type job?
If IE is buggy perhaps a good time to install firefox and get your friend to start using that.
-and yes, if you've wiped the machine and done a complete fresh install and have not got a key to reactivate windows you'll need to buy another copy/key0
