Car Broken Again
I think its just not up to the job.
Its an old P reg Fiat Punto and I am subjecting it to 20,000 miles a year at apeeds of around 50mph, I replaced the master cylinder last month and I have now just discovered what appears to be a brake fluid leak in front of the rear wheel.
I cant afford the repairs never mind a better car, I have a very poor credit rating so cant really consider credit.
I need the car to travel to work every day (70 mile round trip)
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Shaun

If thats the worse thats happended to your Punto with all those miles then I would stick with it.
Its possibly a brake slave cylinder or brake pipe (as cool username), breakers yard for slave cylinder but new would be better.
Fitting should not cost a lot, get a couple of quotes from local garages.
Wish the same could be said about mine...no more italian cars for me, unless its a lambo0 -
Sounds like it could be a brake pipe. Had a Mondeo that was leaking brake fluid from the same place last year - local garage did the job for ninetyish quid because the part had to come from Ford.0

The issue is not so much the cost of the repair but that the car only cost me £400 to buy and was hoping it would see me over till I saved up for a better one, but my savings are just being swallowed up by reapirs0

Probably the rear cylinders. Cheap to replace.Happy chappy0

I know mate but what can you do? Fifteen year old cars with high milages are always gonna cost money in repairs and parts because of the wear and tear they've had over a their lifetime. All you can do is try and fix them as cheaply as possible when they go wrong.0

It is dripping from something just in front of the rear d/s wheel that what look like the brake pipes are going into0

Probably the brake cylinders, as someone else has suggested.
How many miles has this 14 or 15 year old car done?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
There is never any guarantee that the more expensive car will cost you less to maintain unfortunately but for the Punto there's lots of help here http://www.fiatforum.com/punto/0

Well the good news is it wasnt a brake problem, well apart from needing new pads, it was a fuel leak. That along with the welding that needs doing, 2 new tyres.
I am feeling quite queezy :wall:0
