Warning tesco clubcard+ deposits

Went shopping yesterday and as usual my CC+ was empty, so before entering the store I checked the balance (£3.00 credit) and went to CS to top up. I asked to deposit £30.00 and the lad took my cash and gave me the receipt. I then checked the receipt and saw that it said CLUBCARD+SALE and was headed SALES VOUCHER. I immediately returned to the desk and queried this but the lad said this was correct that the cash had definitely gone into my account, needless to say I was not convinced as I had previous deposit receipts in my purse which were headed DEPOSIT CUSTOMER COPY but the boy insisted that he had just used a different method of inputting the cash. A trip to the cash machine confirmed my suspicions, I was now £27.00 overdrawn. When I returned to the desk he immediately accepted that he had made a mistake, despite his previous protestations, but no apology was forthcoming and he merely credited £60 to the account in the correct way.
The moral of this tale is always check your receipt carefully when paying in or it could cost you dearly if you go overdrawn.

Thanks for that. I always credit money to my account just before I shop and I don't think I have actually checked the receipts for that properly for ages so I will from now on. My mind is usually on what I've got to get and how long I have to get it in! Don't really know, but I will definitely be on my guard in future. Reported it to Tesco Personal Finance and tried to call the store to report it to a manager, but no reply. Whether he was trying it on or not, he needs to have a bit more training in procedure if you ask me!0
