There's nothing you can do really. I'm sure you had good reason to have to take the whole day off for you hair appointment but if you factor your day's pay plus the hair do cost you might be better off finding a salon you can go outside your work hours.
Edit: I've just read this back and it sounds a bit condescending, not my intention at all, sorry.
I think you're going to have to put it down to experience although I'd keep trying their number just to find out why and have my two pennies worth (after I'd made sure something awful hasn't happen to them or theirs)0 -

sue her for breach of contract.
I recon youd be entitled to all that £36 back in compo0 -
When I worked for Sky,we used to have to phone the customer the night before the install date or on the morning. In 60% of cases you could'nt get hold of the customer &,in a lot of cases, they'd either forgotten, cancelled or moved with the new address not passed on.
On average I was loosing 3-5 jobs a week thru no fault of my own &,if I did'nt make up my monthly quota, the money was taken off me.On average,I was looseing £100-£150 a month to 'failed jobs'.
Count yourself lucky you only lost £36.0 -
Freda does my hair, what's left of it, ad I get an eyefull0
