  • Excellet progress - well done.

Think to yourself that this is the last time you'll be rushing around like a blue-bottomed fly because next time you'll only have to flick a duster around and a quick hoover.

No-ones house looks like a magazine in the course of real life - if they say it does, they're lying.

I can totally symathise with you - I am not someone who "enjoys" cleaning! I personally couldn't get into the Flylady thing but here's how I did finally get my house sorted. The first time you summon up the courage JUST tidy things away (ie. straighten bed, pick up clothes, shake sofa cushions) and time yourself. I was amazed how little time it took and what a BIG difference it made, so I thought "Yeah I can manage that most days". Then I moved on by using just a damp cloth across the tables, window sills etc. Each time you finish those things if you give up then at least the house looks acceptable, and if you can stretch it to hoovering, polishing mirrors etc then great! I'm totally on top off it now because whenever i'm about to sit down with my book I keep thinking "Oh i'll just quickly do that first..." :D
p.s. With washing up in the sink at least leave it soaking, that way it's much easier to clean when you do finally grab the rubber gloves!!

Well Ground floor is all done! Having my dinner ( Left over curry and a nice big blood orange). I have been looking on the upside of the cleaning larcky, Haven't spent any money and I might have used a few more calories then in my normal day. Thank you all for your kind words. I only have 2 rooms left, the bedroom ( looks more like a clothing bank) and the bathroom. Then to Hoover the stairs. Almost there.

Oh, Miss_Lia, you're a woman after my own heart! I cant stand housework ... and I HATE ironing! I'm just as bone-idle as the next person ... and there's only me & Mr B to contend with!!! Gimme a good book, hot bath, something decent on the telly, ANYTHING other than housework!! I feel your pain! (Or I would ... but I'm waaaay to comfy at the mo!)

But I fear you've now given me inspiration to get cracking this weekend. (I would start tonight ... but by the time I get home, cook dinner, pack the dishwasher, iron the bits we need for tomorrow, had a bath, dried my hair ... the evenings run away with me!)

    Well ... that's the intention!

Just know, you'll have done it by the time the weekend comes!

Miss_Lia you might like to follow my 'lazy' housework method! TV and laptop both go on as soon as I get in from work! Every time the ads come on tv I go and do another job eg vac kitchen, wipe sides, peel veg, wash bathroom etc! Works brilliantly for me!:j

  • I'm exactly the same as you - but add 2 kids to the equation.

I can highly recommend the flylady thread as others have done - my house has never looked so good!
  • I can relate to this! my thing is not putting clean clothes away, we have them piled in wash baskets, i think we all need some motivation esp me

Fly lady here i come on Monday. Thank you all sooo much, with out your posts i think this would have turned into another day off if front of the TV.

I used to be like this except my things were in a huge (folded) pile on top of my dressing table. A Flylady trick helped me - I now deal with the clothes straight from the dryer and anything that goes on a hanger gets hung on one straightaway. This means that the pile of folded clothes is very small and feels manageable enough to put away as soon as I carry it upstairs.
