If you don't know much about computers (it shows in your question) should have stayed with Vista, works it all out for you as does Windows 7. XP is an out of date OS and you should not be using it.0

If you cant see or change the properties you are probably in VGA only mode, this means you do not have the correct drivers for your video card type.
Look in Device Manager / Display Adapter - does it show your video card and does it say it's working properly ?Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Go to the Video Card manufacturers website, download the XP driver for your model, install, reboot and boom.0
