Electrician - Is there anything I can do?

Recently we had an extension on our property. We employed a reputable local electrician to do the necessary work i.e. plugs, lights etc.
I received an invoice for the completed work on 1st December, he received a cheque for the full amount the following day and by 4th December had cleared through my bank.
Unfortunately, as of todays date I have made numerous telephone calls chasing the Minor Works certificate which I am assuming I need before the Building Control Officer can sign the work off.
Each time I speak with him he promises to get on to it and that he will post it that night. He has a largish electrician business in that he has over 20 people working for him mainly does agriculture and industry work etc. I have no reason to doubt he is legit.
Is there anything I can do other than ring him every single day the post fails to deliver the certificate?
Many thanks.

Ultimately it is put him on 28 days notice you will engage someone else to do the work and charge him, going to court if necessary.
If you are speaking with him it is 'what do I have to do to get you to do this, short of getting my solicitor involved?'Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Presumably he is a member of http://www.niceic.com or some such maybe ask them.0

Phone him and tell him you will call to his premises to collect it.0
-
Send a letter asking for certification
Find out who he is registered with and state in the letter you give him 10 days (or whatever reasonable time you want) to provide you with it
The registration scheme should have a procedure for dealing with complaints, but the first step is always to contact the contractor in writing and ask them to put it right.baldly going on...0 -
Thank you.
I rung him again today and said "I have been seeking advice" but didnt elaborate!! I also called the Building Control officer who said he would contact him to chivvy him along. Again he was apologetic on the phone, said he would do it straight away and I reminded him he said that the last time and the time before.
He seemed a little more alert when I said I was taking advice so we will have to see,0 -
You've already made numerous calls that he has ignored. Put it in writing by recorded delivery and he might get his act together.-give him 7 days from receipt of the lettter. No free lunch, and no free laptop
