Why not take a look through the various review sites for information on a suitable mp3 player for your needs ie:

IMHO, the easiest mp3 player to use is one which doesn't lock you into playing one particular format. Sony was renowned for producing players which supported its own format 'Atrac' which lead to lots of people not buying them. I would look for a player that when connected to your computer appears as a harddrive, you can then just dump any files you wish onto it and it will play them. As for which particular model, well I've never bought one, so you shall have to do your own research, but the ipod seems popular and is based upon a Creative player seemingly.

It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.
  • I bought this player and found that the bundled software called Connect was impossible to use without tearing your hair out due to various issues so I ditched that and downloaded some older Sony software called SonicStage which has worked perfectly, easier to use and much faster. Although Sony wants you to use their file format you can just use mp3 with this player.

My wife uses the walkman and is very happy with it. She finds it easy to operate, with good sound and good battery life. The only negative is that you need to be wearing something with pockets if you want to walk around with it as it didn't come with a belt clip.

The new version of Sonic Stage is now bundled it came out in late May (downloadable from www.sony.co.uk if it's an older model)

All the Sony players from the last couple of years are MP3 compatible.
