Audible £50 Amazon discount

Hi all,
I am a new member and wanted to pass on this warning as soon as possible. I recently purchased an ipod through Amazon with a £50 discount through their sister site Audible. This involved subscribing for a year and getting a free download each month. The problem is that the 'members price' that is advertised on the site is not the price that you, as a 'member', will pay!
As a 'visitor', the latest Dan Brown unabridged audio book is '3.99' to members. As a 'member' the book is nearly 4 times this much!
i only found this out AFTER paying to subscribe.
The site is misleading although, so far, customer services have confirmed I will get refund...once I return the ipod to Amazon!
Be warned...this is a very misleading offer that is complicated to get out of.

I've got an audible subscription. I pay £14.99 a month which entitles me to download any two audiobooks on the site.
I always ensure that my credits go towards books that cost more than £7.50 each.
Most books are more than this anyway. the Dan Brown must be a special offer at 3.99. I can see why you'd be peeved at paying £7.50 instead of 3.99, but if you use your free download one month, you can get it free, no?0 -

I'm confused as a subscriber to audible you pay for credits. I pay 7.99 for one credit (so one book a month). So you just make sure you use the credit as wuckfit said for books worth more than that. On occasion I want books that are cheaper than that so I just buy them normally
It sounds to me like you didn't actually understand how it works.0 -
Thanks for your reply, I'm not sure I explained myself fully. I am aware of how the 'monthly book credit' works and ,yes, you're right it is a good deal to get new books like Dan brown's at that price.
However, if you go to the site as a non-subscriber i.e. someone thinking of subscribing(as I did) then the prices are clearly marked as "members price £3.99" next to all of the books. This implies that the price of the book to members is in fact £3.99.
My point was that this , as you can see for yourselves, is simply not true.
I was merely trying to prevent other people from making the same mistake I did. I did do my research first and I joined with the intention of downloading more than one book a month... at the members price of £3.99!
Thanks for your comments though, the site does look good, but is misleading nonetheless.0 -
