Pre-recorded telemarketing - 'this is not an advertisement' then goes on about debt !

We are signed up to the telephone preference etc and don't get any sales calls but have started getting calls with a pre-recorded voice saying 'this is not an advertisement' and then waffling on about debt etc

I guess in the last month we have received this call about four times.

Two things -

Where/who are they coming from ?
How can I stop them ?

Any advice would be well received.

If you do 1471 and type that phone number into Google it may come up on the whocalls me website and you can see who they are.

Thanks for that, very useful , I found all the names of companies who would hassle me if I ever answered their calls!:beer:

Not if the OP is on the TPS. Sign up at www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/

It stops all except those you chose to deal with and the most unscrupulous of callers.

Mind you, even now some people have not heard of it!
