Thanks everyone! You've been really helpful and that's given me a few places to check in to! It'll probably come down to availability now although I'm hoping it's not too busy at the end of Feb! :T0

I was thinking exactly the same thing about Capel & the fog lol.
The Leas area of Folkestone is lovely during the day, at night though it's the gay cruising area. I was thinking last night that the harbour area of Folkestone might suit if it's a short stay.
The hotel Burstin for example- from there you can walk down the side of the harbour, and there are a couple of nice pubs in among the old fishermens cottages. A short walk up through the "arty" quarter gets you to the Oriental Buffet- all you can eat with a huge choice for around £10 a head in the evenings (we usually go at lunchtime so that's from memory) the service is fab, and the food is great value.
Just looked at the rates for the Burstin during the last week in Feb:

Located overlooking Folkestone's attractive Harbour. Discounted rates and LIVE entertainment each night make this a popular hotel.

Eek that's a mess- the upshot is around £35 a room.Only dead fish go with the flow...0 -

We ended up staying at The Castle Hotel, Saltwood, Hythe
It was £45 for the night and had a lovely breakfast for 2 included in the price - juice, cereal, toast and full english. Lovely old village pub and the food in the evening was nice too although not bargain bucket prices! Room was clean and tidy and staff were friendly. It was a steady 20 minute drive to Dover so not too far away. My only complaint would be that they didn't start breakfast until 7.30am which is a bit late if you want to catch an early boat! We're driving to Spain in May and are booked on the 8am ferry so I think i'll be trying one of the other suggestions out then :T 0 -
Yay! I do like being helpful

Another question then.......:p How long is the walk from the Burstin to the centre and do you actually pass bars etc on the way? TIA0

Minutes to the bottom end of town, where there are a few bars. There's also the oriental buffet, all you can eat with vast choice for £6ish lunch, and £9ish dinnertimes. There's a weatherspoons moments away- set in a fab building- or if a quiet jar is more your thing, there's a quaint old pub on the quayside without even having to go into town.Only dead fish go with the flow...0

Try Travelodges, we booked earlier and got Maidstone for £9 this June (£19 at the moment but back to £9 soon - this week?).
