The reality is unfortunately that to receive statutory redundancy pay, you need to have two complete years service, however, depending on the terms and conditions of the contract of employment, some company's offer compensation when the required service has not been achieved.

I am a little confused when you state that the company is only paying out SRP to only the people with 3 years service, and I would be very surprised if this was stated in a contract of employment.

I am also confused as to why you have to claim income support instead of the JSA. I am not completely sure of the requirements of claiming income support, but as the name implies, I was under the impression that this benefit was to supplement a low wage.

As you are unemployed (or about to be) there will be no income to support, however, as stated earlier, I am not fully aware of the required criteria for claiming this benefit.

I am aware that many loan PPI providers will need to have proof of redundancy and/or confirmation of a JSA claim, but I would have a look at the key points of your loan PPI policy to see if this situation is highlighted.

I am assuming you are actively seeking work (or will be) and you should be registered with jobseekers therefore I cannot comprehend as to why the insurers won't pay out.

I would make a trip to your local Citizens Advice Bureau - pronto. They can look at all of your personal details and finances and will be able to give sound advice based on your personal circumstances. It is obviously difficult to help on this forum without more of your personal circumstances known. That is your business and rightly so.

    Good luck anyway.

IF you have continoulsly worked with them for at least two years on the day you are made redundant you are entitled to redundancy pay. That is a requirement for statatutory redundancy payments.

Your company may have a policy that requires you to have 3 years service before they pay employees an enhanced redunancy payment. You need to ask for clarification.
