But you were at school some time ago. I'd expect if you went back now you'd find most of those council houses were now in private hands, if they were in OK areas.

My parent's still live there and they own it and 50%+ are now most probably privately owned. But kids will still rib each other, thats what they do.
Like I said it could of ginger anything really.
I don't think it is malice but kids like winding each other up. I dare say some kids still do the same, most council houses are in private ownership, but like we said Kids don't care on the own/rent bit it will just be
"you live in a council house"
Just a wind up. So like I said teased as a child but not as an adult (but I have only ever rented personally for around a year)

This type of trolling is fairly low IMHO.

No - several kids from my kids' school live in the ex-council road I mentioned, and I can assure you not one of the kids (including the ones who live there, as I have some v good friends who live there) have the faintest idea they are ex-council, or indeed, what this means.

They're quite nice houses, actually - roomier than most of the new-builds.

Are you sure you're not imagining this bias based on your experiences as a child?

It was Seconday school carol I presume your children are not that old yet.

I hope children do still wind each other up, it is part of growing up and developing. Part of identifying strengths and weaknesses, without it you will never have any leaders or know what makes people tick.

Never think children don't do things just because you don't see it. As a teacher (not sure you are secondary) I thought you would be know how children wind each other up some times.
My child try's to wind me up and he is not three yet .:)

PS I am not saying it is a bias just that children will wind each other up on anything that is all no mater what it is, I think I have stated that a few times now.

When I was a child, I remember the teasing that took place if you happened to live in a council property...there was def a stigma attached to it (I didn't suffer this as my parents owned their home).

My children now, on the whole, don't suffer this....youngest and middle still can't quite get the hang of the idea that we live in a property not owned by me, they just think that everyone owns their home. You still get the odd child who will tease but it is very few and far between...and they both go to the 'posh' school in town!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Did you ask them to mind their own business ?

Is it on the news yet, do you have crowds outside discussing the renters in our midst.

Do you ring a bell as you walk down the road to warn people "in the village".
