I am trying very hard NOT to eat chocolate but am craving the taste. So far all I have found that stops this is chocolate milkshake, chocolate flavour sauce topping and chocolate angel delight!

Does anyone have any alternative suggestions please to find the fix without the fat?

Thanks :)

  • I have been getting skinny cow sandwich ice cream things, the chocolate ones are lovely. Is it because you are slimming?

Ok so this may not be your bag but it's worth a try.. I'm a trainee chocolatier and I often find that a coffee and a little bit of really good dark chocolate when i get into the factory in the morning, will stop me picking at loads of the other stuff later on. It satisfies the need (I never used to crave chocolate, have always been a savoury girl!! :o). If on the other hand I have a bit of milk something or other when I get there, I tend to keep troughing as the day goes on..

Hotel Chocolat do a range of dark chocolate with low sugar, very rich. It's really nice (bought it as a present and tried some). It's quite expensive but you only need a small nibble and it's enough.

I have the same problem :o

    My recipe -

    Hot / warm milk

1 tsp good quality strong coffee
    3 tsp Cadburys drinking chocolate

No sugar, there's enough in the drinking choc and I use semi skimmed milk.
    Enjoy :D

Dark chocolate is nice (after you get used to it!) Green & Blacks do 70% chocolate & it also comes in different flavours. Like others have said a little goes a long way! Good luck! :)

Edit: what about making some of twinks oat biscuits & putting some pieces of chocolate in at the end. Or you could make a dessert of some kind & grate some chocolate over the top?
  • I love mint/choc chewing gum.

At certain times of the month, nothing else will do. At other times I can often make the craving go away with some nice nuts like brazils, cashews, macadamia etc. They aren't that slimming, but still healthier than chocolate!

Also, health food shops usually carry sugar free chocolate, which still contains fat but is a little less bad for you.
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!

my son was dairy allergic - and we used carob as alternative. some supermarkets stock carob 'chocolate' alternatives but its more widely available from health food shops.
er - whats wrong with 'real' chocolate? or are you addicted to the cadbury stuff? which is fattening and not very healthy. real chocolate (over 70% proof) is actually good for you. in moderation.
if its the cadbury stuff - you may well be intolerant to the dairy or sugars it contains. the body is often quite attached to stuff thats bad for it!
