Ouch, I really do feel for you! We were in the same situation from October to December, though obviously not as long as you. We used up all of our savings just trying to survive in those months. I even had to take a load of change to get £10 each on the gas and electric!
I had a lot of suggestions in my thread if you would like to search for it as it may be some help hopefully.
I cannot believe the Jobcentre dont rush these kinds of things through when you have been waiting for so long, and with a child too, my goodness.
I think there are a lot of problems with joint claims, I know I still dont show properly on the system and Ive been on it since October but they had trouble finding me yesterday when I wanted to sign off!
I hope you get something sorted soon, keep on at them.

First of all fill in the backdate claim form: (If they made a decision about you and thats why you have not had your money thro then you need to appeal they will give you an appeal form failing that take it to a tribrunal.) I won mine many years ago and still had problems - i am out of work again and now there doing the same thing to me. (One thing i have learnt is to photo copy everything keep reciepts and watch what forms you fill out and sign...The thing is you aint got much proof going in to see them - and no one will believe you over them" I dont care coz in the end the truth will come out and i have faith in that alone.

Write a letter making a complaint to the Job centre plus manager - This address and there name should be on your letters from the Job centre:- send that letter recorded and photo copy it.
If no response or your still not happy write a letter to saying what has happend to Darra Sing:- Caxon House Tot hill street London. South west 1H9 NA;- copy it and send it recorded.

If your still not happy :- Independant case will take it further and look into it for you.

This is what i was advised to do before the Ombudsmon can look into my case - Keep all paper work!!
