Multi car, multi driver, named insurance

I am trying to save money on my daughters car insurance premium. Who can I contact for the following;

my daughter needs to be on my insurance as a named driver, but she needs to also earn her own NCB whilst driving her own car ?? Does anybody do this, as I cannot find any insurers on the usual comparison websites - they do not cover these options. Please don't advise Admiral multi car as I have already tried that one !!!!

thanks

    Does your daughter have her own vehicle? Is it insured? If not, first step is to find insurance for her properly declaring all the facts, such as it is her vehicle and she is the main driver, and paying the proper premium to insurers for the risk that they are assuming.

    Once you have done that, contact your own insurers and add her to your policy as a named driver, pointing out that she has her own vehicle insured in her own name. You may or may not be required to pay an additional premium or an increased own damage excess dependant on her age/driving experience.

    You are inviting trouble for yourself if you do not declare the full facts when taking out a policy. In the event of non-disclosure of the facts your daughter's insurers would be entitled to refuse to pay a claim in the event of an accident.

    You may be able to find a family fleet policy - go to a specialist insurance broker - which may offer incentives such as 3 car discount but invariably your daughter's car will be rated on her age etc. If you own the car and put your daughter on as a named driver, you will have to answer questions relating to any access you may have to other vehicles. Insurers are, quite rightly in my view, entitled to be paid the correct premium for the risk they are undertaking.

    See this link for reasons why you should ensure that you disclose full facts.

  • Have you tried your existing insurance company for a quote for your daughter? My kids are all named drivers on my policy but one of them has just bought his own car and therefore needed insurance in his own name. All the online quotes were horrendous - including my current insurer. But when we rang them although it took about 20 minutes on the phone they took all the info that he was a named driver on an existing policy with them, had pass plus etc it went through to the underwriters and eventually they came back with a premium which was about 60% less than the on- line quote!
    So I would say it's definitely worth making a few calls rather than just taking the online quotes as gospel. hth
  • I agree with my above members that you should go for some nice insurance plans for your daughter.Well that plan must be appropriate to you also.Now a days there are so many different issues and plans available for it.
