tax credits are usually backdated to the Monday after you first applied

Battery hens are vaccinated against salmonella usually so the cheapy (no that was not a pun!) eggs are fine too.. I'd reckon the organic free range are probably not ok if anything will have bacteria it will be those!

Tara.. prem babies regularly have apnoea.. they just forget to breathe. They are also often anaemic because they haven't built up the iron store which is normally laid down in the last 4-5 weeks of pregnancy so unless they are having formula which has extra iron they are usually given iron supplements from about 7 days old.. have the hospital been lapse in another area?? If she hasn't got a high temp she shouldn't have AB's because it is most likely a virus and AB's will just wipe out her immune system leaving her susceptible to other stuff.. I hate the way AB's are dished out like sweets!... Anyway.. hope P is on the mend soon xx (I've had 6 prem babies)

I try to get Jack to amuse himself alot :o mostly because I don't want him totally dependant on me.

He is either on floor, in Jumperoo/door bouncer/bouncy chair whilst I carry on with housework. I talk to him the whole tim & play peekaboo or I dance/sing to him. We do songs once or twice a day wher he sits in my lap & I do all the actions. sometimes he sits on my lap while I'm on here or I get on the floor and play with him.

Jack has just enjoyed a crumpet with butter & bovril :rotfl:

I am FOREVER getting zapped by Caitlyn... Especially when I have just put her in her coat... I recon SS sent me an electrically charged baby coat in the hopes that I would set on fire... I must have upset her somehow...

Incidentally, Aimee's always had dippy eggs and runny fried eggs... The only time our yolks are set is when I miss time it... Like I did the other day when Caitlyn had her first boiled egg... There was crumbled egg yolk all over the place!!

    Bathroom fitters still here... :o
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Charlotte woke again in the night. She was yelling "no no, Mammy come quickly" at the top of her voice at 5.30am. I went in and got into her bed and cuddled her in and she dropped back off. I'm sure it's nightmares but she can't tell you anything at the time and has forgotten she was awake by morning.
Alice has been waking up too. The best we could get out of her was that she had been dreaming about her calendar and then the radiator gave her a fright.

In other news, I've just seen this. There's a movement to redesign hotdogs to prevent kids choking on them. I think people would do better to encourage their kids to chew. Should we also consider redesigning chickens and fish so nobody chokes on the bones?
    That's ridiculous.
Mind you its suprising how many peole dont teach their kids to eat properly. I was talking to a dinner lady the once and she told me the majority of kids now when they start school/Nursery have no idea how to use a knife and fork properly.
When I was doing my PGCE, the teachers used to complain about children not being able to use a knife and fork properly. I didn't believe it until a child we know started school not able to use them properly.
What can i give bubs for breakfast? he is 6 months old and normally has the pakcet baby food mixed with his milk i do let him have the odd toast soldier as he goes crazy when i have toast. I know im naughty because of the gluten but he has had no adverse effects from it. Can he have eggs yet what do you give your babies ??
We did/do apple and sultana porridge, egg with toast, baked porridge and pancakes.
yay Thanks everyone that will save me a fortune in buying him special breakfasts although the apple porridge one is so yummy might just buy that one still hehe.
You can make apple porridge yourself. When Alice was having separate porridge (because we made hers with EBM), we used to make it once a week and freeze in little tubs which we could get out the night before and then microwave in the morning.

those with older LOs When did you/do you plan to give them 'under cooked' eggs/meat and unpasteurised cheese?
When Alice was nine and half months I gave her stuff from a dish with HM seafood sauce in (which therefore had raw egg because I used HM mayonnaise). We've only started giving her eggs with runny yolks relatively recently because when we did when she was ten months, we just ended up with loads of yolk everywhere which was really hard to clean up so we didn't think it was worth it. She had smoked salmon at her first Christmas (so eight months). Raw cheese is actually very hard to find so I've never given Alice that but I personally wouldn't be worried about avoiding it.
I think perhaps I think a bit different to the majority, but I'd allow supervised access, if he is clean and sober at the time. I think it is also worth remembering that addicts can and do recover, and can be fantastic parents when they are clean.
I was trying to think of a way of saying something vaguely similar. In this case, I would have more issue with the other aspects of his behaviour which have been described than with the drug addiction in and of itself and I suspect that the other things are probably an influencing factor in other people's strong statements. Self destructive addictions can be broken and it is hard and people do need support in doing it but the effect on other people involved also needs to be taken into consideration.

Can I ask the Bf'ers..when did you wean your lo's? Ethan turns 4 months next week  I'm not in a rush to wean him just yet but I wonder sometimes if I'm starving him!!
We started giving Alice solids at seven months and she started actually eating them at ten months. (But I am weird and totally unrepresentative.)

are there people who don't eat cake mix? :p My vice is cookie dough...
When I was a student my friend used to get very angry with me if I licked the bowl out when we had made a cake. I think perhaps she was overestimating the risk.

When Alice was Kian's age, I used to read books to her, go out for walks (to the local shop) and do day to day jobs whilst giving a running commentary. I would also make a point of sitting and reading books while she was playing so that she saw me doing it. I also used to just generally chat to her. And played with her toys with her (e.g. banging on a toy drum together).

Oh, and who was it who suggested doing minty icing on a chocolate cake? Whoever it was thank you, it went down a treat. I only just managed to save a sliver to bring home for DH (Feelie got a nice big chunk at lunchtime though - did you share any with DH? ;))

    I ate all of it!

Could I get the recipe for it? Was really nice, I'm tempted to try it with an orange icing.
