Drivers leaving more than one ‘pay-and-display’ ticket in their car windows face Fine

So you can be done for having more than one ticket on display (eg, you have left an old one on the dashboard, but the current one is stuck to your windscreen) and yet if your road tax falls off your windscreen, your done for failing to display..... methinks someone is having their cake and eating it.Fight Crime : Shoot Back.

So what part of the article has been incorrectly reported or even made up? This story has also been covered by the BBC.
Unlike you, I don't discount or criticise a news item merely because of it's source; instead, I do some research to see if it's true or not."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
oh...
its from the Daily Mail. <sigh>
So what? Why does it make you sigh that its from the mail?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/london/8481240.stm Same story at the BBC or are you going to sigh about them too?
E2A: Just saw your post maninthestreet, glad to see someone else actually reads the stories and makes their own decision on them, instead of just assuming its a load of tosh because its from the Daily Mail. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
I removed a pay & display ticket from my windscreen a few days after I actually used it. It tore and left a sticky bit on my screen which I can't get off!

to be honest, I dont know what ever happened to common sense. There seem to be so many problems arising, that have to then become enforced, and therefore cause anger. You buy a ticket from the machine, stick it on windscreen - visible. You return to car and remove it. Next day, repeat process.
but noooooo......... thats too easy for some people, who are too lazy? or is it just ignorace? to leave the old one on - it just doesnt make any common sense - just like hoards of people walking around Tesco in their PJs - I really wonder why they shut so many of the asylums down - thats the place where people wander around in gowns.
I fully back this policy - and surprised it wasnt already in force. I want a parking attendant to spend the least time as possible on each car - so they can catch more people who dont pay what they should and clutter the streets - where so many others pay their way in life. If you cant afford to pay parking or a speeding fine, please just dont bother buying a car altogether - its a privelege not a right.0 -
I bet if there was some similar loophole to evade a parking ticket it would be exploited to the max!
In the end how hard is it to pickup a ticket off your dashboard or take it off the windscreen and bung it some where, cars have plenty of cubby holes? I do it without even thinking."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0
