SOLVED - Post-upgrade Boot Problem...
Options

Just after some advice and reassurance, rather than just plough on and risk making things worse. Hopefully just a case though of selecting the option that I think, and all will be ok.
I had a RAM upgrade delivered yesterday for my Fujitsu laptop. It runs on XP Professional, and had 512Mb. I've bought 2x 1Gb sticks for it and thought it would be simple to do when I tried it yesterday. The manual for the laptop just says access to the memory modules is underneath, under a cover. It turned out that 1 slot was there, but the other is under the keyboard. I decided initially to do it this coming weekend and just pressed the power button when I'd finished, putting it into standby/hibernate(?).
When I got home tonight, I decided just to do the upgrade now. Unfortunately I'd forgotten that I'd not shut down fully. After putting the new RAM modules in and switching the power on, it comes up...
Do I just do the delete restoration data option, and that should fix it? Just didn't want to try this and be told I shouldn't have done it, and it's made things worse.
Thanks.

Doing the second option just restarts the laptop and gets back to above point. Hitting F2 to go into the BIOS shows that the RAM is 2048Mb, so the new memory is being recognised.Last attempt to restart system from its previous location failed
--> Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu
--> Continue with system restart

Nice to save.

Bet it's the simplest advice you've ever given..."Get on with it man, grow a pair!":)
Yeah, that worked ok. Posting this on the laptop now. I just felt all confidence disappear when I saw the DOS screen with the word 'restore' on it.
Cheers!Nice to save.0 -
Does it boot any faster?!!

Does it boot any faster?
Mmmm, inconclusive. I'd timed it pre-upgrade upto the point when most disk activity had stopped. This took 2:10. Timed it now at 2:00, although it's a bit wooly as to when you'd considered Windows loaded if you know what I mean.
Loading CorelDraw before took 55s, and now takes 40s. As a bit of a test I've got Firefox, CorelDraw, and Photoshop all running with no disk activity to talk of switching between them.Nice to save.0
