RM local collect

not strictly eBay but the most postal based section

RM are raising the cost of local collect from 50p to £1.50 per item!!!
be warned people
What is the ‘Local Collect’ Service mentioned on the ‘Sorry you were out card’?
For an additional fee of 50p, you can arrange for your item to be delivered to a local Post Office® branch, where you can collect it.

* From February 1st 2010 the price for Local Collect will increase to £1.50. This means that you will pay £1.50 when you turn up to collect your item, either on or after the 1st February irrespective of the date you arranged the redelivery.

    Goodness gracious.

I must remember never to move house! Where I am at the moment I can't park anywhere near any post office so I never have my parcels redelivered to a PO. I can however park at the delivery office and it's only 5 minutes away and they are brilliant, very friendly so I collect my stuff from there. I've also started using the delivery office when I'm working late as I cna print postage online, drop it all off there as late as 7pm and get my COP stamped.

    i was pondering this
50p an item must be a good income generator for the PO
more so given the closures of other PO's
the PO on my duty gets at least one sack of local collect items a day,it can be as much a 3
so are RM raising the price to put people off using the service? or feel they will still get used by at least 1/3 of who use it now so no loss?
having seen some leaked documents, the opening times of delivery office is an area the want to cut to save money
however i suspect more will go for the free redelivery option which in real terms costs more for RM
deliver 3 bags to one PO vs each house all over the shop
then theres RM now pushing for a 7am to 3pm shift...........
