ariston seal issues

okay we have an Ariston Margherita washer/drier
it managed to shake its front wright loose
stripped it down (im no DIY legend!!) and finally got in and with washers got it remounted on the slightly mangled mounts (bolt head locates in a T shaped slot)
rebuilt it up but now cant see how to fit the door seal correctly
the seal locates on the drum and it held by a thin metal bend jubilee type clip
this band appears to require locating into a thin slot on the seal all the way around and screwed to tighten
however i cant seem to gain access to the lower section of the drum as the weight is bolted ot the lower part of the drum just below the opening on the drum
i cant see how i am meant to do it
i dont want to remove the seal from the outer door surround as it appears held by adhesive and costs £45!! to replace

sorry long post but anyone any ideas on what im missing?
