As already asked how were you planning to attend before you were sick? If you already had the day off, shift swap etc or whatever let them know you are fit on friday and will be sticking by the holiday or whatever.

If you had no way of attending do not go as it will look like you deliberately called in sick to avoid working when you had this appointment.

If the appointment came after you became sick then phone up and ask if you can have friday as a days leave

Hi all i have phone in sick this week as i have Flu and my work is on the phones constant for an 8 hour shift so being bunged up and sneezing etc i would not be able to cope with the customers on the phone.
I plan to return to work Monday next week but on Friday this week i have a pre arranged Event to attend ....
If i go to this Event would i be in the wrong as i am off sick ?

I have followed work HR rules i.e called in sick each day before 10am but im worried if i attend my Event which is during the day i may get into trouble?

Any advice will be brilliant thank you

If you actually had influenza you wouldn't be able to go to the event. My strapping six foot brother could not even climb three steps on a ladder to get into his (cabin style) bed! Are you sure you don't have bad cold?

  • If you already have Friday as A/L, I would make a big effort of going back to work tomorrow, to show willing.

As others ahave said you would know if you had flu, and wouldn't be on here.

Hmm if you have a bunged up cold (I very much doubt you have flu, if you did you wouldn't be able to move, let alone write on here or go to 'events') how are you supposed to go to a Radio Event? If you're well enough to travel and take part in something like that, then you're well enough to go to work.

You say it was prearranged...so I'm assuming you have Friday off as annual leave anyway? In that case it's fine for you to go and no you won't get in trouble for it, but if anyone from work finds out they will probably be very sceptical as to whether you were really ill or not.

    What a miraculous recovery!

Today at 2:45 you were so ill that you needed the rest of the week off.

Tonight at 7pm, after getting advice that you can't do social things when your off work, your going back to work!

    Feel the vibes people!
