I got a Tesco frozen (Canadian) lobster last year when they were a silly price - £2 or something? Anyway, even at that price I won't be going back - it was very average and in no way comparable to a fresh just cooked lobster. I know fresh lobster is ridiculously expensive (that's why I hardly ever eat it) but I would rather do without than eat the frozen one again. Or go for an alternative - our fishmonger does a whole dressed crab for about £3 - brown and white meat picked and served in the shell so all the messy work is done for you. Yum! Or fresh Scottish langoustines (also expensive) but delicious."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

of everything that comes along their way."

Paella.
I regularly buy the 5 quid lobs from Aldi and Lidl (Lidl have the edge). Use the shells to make a stock to use in the paella. Chuck in chunks of cheap chorizo (again from Lidl) and some chicken thighs. Use the value punnets of toms and basics peppers and you'll feed 8 easily.0 -

Bought a frozen lobster from Lidl yesterday. Its been in the fridge defrosting over night, and is now in a bowl of water to finish off. It says to cook in boiling water for 5 minutes.... That sounds a bit dull, any idea what I can do with it afterwards to perk it up?SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" I generally find that frozen lobster can be a bit chewy so is best used for cooking, but I suggest you cook as per the instructions and try a bit. If it's tender and delicious, I'd eat it with lemon juice, mayonnaise and salad.
If it's not particularly delicious naked, I'd make it into a creamy sauce for pasta or bung it in a risotto.0 -
Just been on google re Lidl lobster and the first result back is from this very forum. Lots of people have said its watery and not really worth it. I might try steaming it instead and having it in a wrap with your mayo and lemon.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?"
