Put it in the freezer for 20mins and it will go to sleep. then plunge it into boiling water so it dies quickly without suffering. Serve with melted garlic butter OR, a dressing of olive oil and lemon juice whisked together. yum yum yum. I went over to my brothers in the end. He used to be an award winning head chef, before giving it all up to be a fireman. He put the live lobster in a pan of boiling water for 5 mins, cooled him down in cool water and opened it up. Removed all the nasty bits.
Then a little S & P and lemon and it was dispatched.
No point making up some fancy sauce he said, spoils the taste of the lobster.

Apparently the lobster gives off poisons when it's dead which is why people get a dodgy stomach, so they should be cooked lived or killed off at the last moment.
Not much meat in one is there? No wonder Essex-girl ate 7!NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
According to the RSPCA, the lobster should be frozen first before sticking into boiling water: see http://www.rspca.org.uk/servlet/Satellite?pagename=RSPCA/RSPCARedirect&pg=FAQs&articleId=1121758149115&topic=1112958900016&subtopic=1112958900098&previousPage=null#11217581491150

They say that the alternative to this is the knife through the head method.
There is a debate about whether the lobster will feel ice crystals forming within its body in the freezer. I belive that it is much more humane to kill it quickly and cleanly rather than being squeamish and letting it die slowly.Just run, run and keep on running!0 -

Lidl have frozen lobsters for under £5 at the moment - so I've bought one to try and it's been defrosting all night. It was pre-cooked. So, what should I do with it? Its to feed 2, and it's not huge so eating it in a sauce isn't an option.
I've thought maybe risotto? Any better ideas?0 -

Oh wow! I will definitely have to check those out.
Risotto to me sounds like the tastiest option, will you make a stock out of the shell? or you could make a Lobster bisque, or a pasta dish? Or a bouilabasse type soup?0 -

My wife had lobster curry and king prawn fried rice when we were in Cyprus, she reckoned it was delicious! You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
Lidls has an 'exclusive gourmet recipe booklet' instore at the moment to accompany all that lovely food. It explains how to prepare the lobster and gives a recipe for lobster thermidor (cream, wine etc sauce). Worth picking up if you're near a shop.0

I've just opened the bag the lobster was frozen in - the lobster is not big at all - I've eaten larger crayfish! It says 375g - but thats before the shell is removed - I'm still thinking risotto, with maybe pea or fennel?0
