    Thanks for help

The rock wool I got was on offer for £1 a roll at B&Q back in Oct

    Length is 4900mm
    width 370mm
    thickness 200mm

Ideal! should slot in nicely - cheap as well

Yes its should I was thinking of putting it in temporary until I board it up, its so cold in there even with a 3rd on very low. Have a small kicthen so garage doubles as uility room with boiler, washer, dryer and large freezer plus I store stuff on 4 large a garage shelving units I got late last year

  • I think I thanked everyone, I hope I did. I have some rockwool left over from the recent npower deal so I think I will have a go at using that. I was a bit hesitant as when I did the loft, even though I was well covered, I was itching for days after. I also thought it would fall out and I would have to board it which I didn't want to do now. We also use our garage as utility, toy room, washer room so we are in and out a lot. I think I will stuff up what I have as a temporary message then board it out in the spring.

When using Rockwool wear gloves and dustmask! After using Rockwool, wash hands/arms/face (whatevers been exposed) with COLD water. If you wash with warm/hot water you will open up your pores and the glass will get into them and make you itch. :o

Appreciate a garage might not be used for a car or even as a workshop but doesn't insulation have to comply with building regulations because of possible fire risks?

Don't forget the door fit a seal on the bottom to keep the rubbish out and insulate the back of the door . best of luck
  • your house is not up to build regs must be fire boarded/insulated ceiling ur insurance would not pay in event of fire. ps IMPORTANT TO ALL USER the insurance companys will use these instances to void any claims. ie any fire elsewhere

why is that important for a garage ceiling only thing added is rockwool same stuff that goes in your loft and some wood/plasterboard to finish it off. The roof already contains wood and rubber on my house
