MCPD - looking to do this course abroad

Options
Hi,

I was looking to a Microsoft Course abroad named: Microsoft Professional Certification.

I came across Koenig which do a 3 month intense course for £6k- http://www.koenig-solutions.com/training/career_aspnet_training.asp

Advantages: 90% pass rate, 100% of the time is classroom training.
Disadvantages are: need my own laptop (which i dont have), going abroad to study, and it costs 6k

Anyone reckon i should do this? Can anyone recommend this place?

Thanks

Probably depends on what your longterm career prospects portend ;)

To be brutally honest after a 3 month classroom boot camp and getting your MCSE I would expect that IF you can get a job contracting it would probably be for about £10 an hour as a first line analyst. You have absolutely no practical experience. You need quite a few years experience with some good references to get anywhere near £300 per day.

You must remember that MCP/MSCE only gets you through the agency's first round sifting process. After that it is your CV and maybe a practical test that will take you on to further selection

  • The high-price contracting gigs are high-priced because they require rare skills and/or expertise and experience - anything you can cram for with a 90% pass rate in three months isn't going to count. So I completely agree with !!!!!!, the certification exams are only a small part of the picture - you need the practical experience too. Exam bootcamps are all very well, but most of that information will be forgotten the moment you start cramming for the next one...

Personally i'd reckon you'd be much better looking for a starting role that offers a chance to get hands-on experience, and tick off the certifications as you work. Most companies will pay for them if you can show they're relevant.

Remember too - despite what the 'statistics' and fruitcakes say:rotfl:- when taking into account your salary aspirations, this is a recessionary IT environment:cool:.

...and could potentially well remain so for a very long time
