Does Google Chrome slow down Firefox?

I heard that Google Chrome is faster than Firefox, so last week, I downloaded and tried it.
True, it seems to operate very smoothly. But at the same time, I have the impression that my Firefox (on the same computer) slowed down.
Do you think Google Chrome can negatively affect Firefox if you try to use both of them?

Nah, I have Firefox, SRWare Iron, Chrome, IE and Opera installed and they're all quite happy in their own little world0

 If it does then my paranoia about Google is confirmed
.
(No, should have no adverse affects - I stress should;), see above Lol).0 -
While I haven't done any research into this, my techy senses tell me:
a) if you are running two applications at the same time (both windows open at the same time) your computer has to do two things at once. Therefore there is likely to be a performance hit - noticeable or otherwise.
b) It is very unlikely that an installed application that isn't presently running (window not open) will affect the performance of another application.
Firefox is slow, maybe it just feels even slower by comparison :rotfl:
Hope that helps0 -

The only thing I can think if you've noticed a general slowdown since installing chrome, is did you install any other Google apps along with it? I know Google Desktop can lower the performance of your system while it's indexing (though it's been many years since I used Google Desktop, and I understand it's designed to minimise the performance impact now)0

Thank you for all your kind information. Perhaps it was because I got used to Firefox, and now compared to Chrome, Firefox isn't as perfect as I thought.0
