Wanting to do trek/cycle for charity-any recommendations ?
Options
Hi
Im wanting to do a trek or cycle event in 2011 for charity. I have looked at action for charity events. However I am wanting to do something that will be of the best benefit to a charity.
I volunteer for a charity at the moment but they dont run treks or cyclying events unfortunately. They deal with post-natal depression.
I have thought about asking them but am unsure if they would be able to arrange anything.
I am especailly interested in anything that helps children- although not essential.Im also not very fit but hopefully will have time to get thatsorted.
Can anyone recommend any good events or companies to contact ?
thanks x

First off, do contact the charity in question. If you want to raise funds for them, they should be more than willing to help out where possible. They don't have to organise the event itself but may have to register with the main event organiser so they can get the funds.
Have a look at

I trekked the Great Wall of China for Cancer Research and I did it through Discover Adventure - don't be put off by the fact that the charity don't organise their own treks etc....

Oh thanks for that !! Was not sure it was possable. I think some others might want to get involve if it was for the chairty I volunteer for.
I have been put off at the idea that the charitys themselves would not get much off the money raised.0
