I sold some swim shorts, detailed them as very good condition.
When going through all the children's clothes I was selling my husband and I both jointly sorted it and agreed on state of condition of the items.
The buyer has emailed me for a part refund/refund saying there is a hole in the bottom of the shorts - neither my husband and I agree that's the case, they looked near as perfect in our minds (we have v high standards), they say if I fail to act on this they will leave negative feedback (not had before)
I thought I'd ask the buyer to email me a photo of the hole before considering a part refund, does this sound reasonable or what would you do??

Say no, offer a refund if they return the shorts at their own cost (PayPal will say the same if it goes to a dispute) if they leave negative feedback you will be able to get it removed by eBay as feedback extortion, a quick chat on eBays live help will get it removed.
The type of people who would send you a message threatening negative feedback before you have even had the chance to resolve this issue should be removed from eBay and reported.
I dislike with buyers who threaten with feedback, they are abusing powers that eBay give them. I would stick to your guns if i was you.

Hi I agree with you ask for a photo. We are all human and we can all miss something. If you both missed it it is likely to be the smallest hole ever! Once you have seen the photo you can decide then. Pauline0

so not even offer the opportunity of them sending a photo?
Looking at the feedback they have left for others they've not left negative feedback before so not a habitual bad feedbacker0 -
There's nothing to stop them cutting a hole in the shorts though if they decided they didn't like them etc so how can you be sure that it's something you missed.... people can be sneaky. I'm not sure but just wanted to ask that question along with the OP's questions as it's something in my ebay 'career' that I've not come across yet but I'm sure will happen in due course unfortunately0

I hope they don't cut them deliberately
I'm a bit gutted by it all to be honest. I really try hard to make sure I'm as accurate as possible, had I seen a hole I would have mentioned it in the listing
I'll wait and see what the photo shows0 -
You dont mention the cost of either the shorts or the refund requested but if its only a small amount I would either give them the benefit of the doubt or ask them to return them0

get the photo.the majority of people on ebay aren't there to screw you over but maybe they did make a hole themselves. if so the size and location should give away whether or not it was there when you sent it. if you refuse and give you negative feedback contact ebay it would be easy for them to remove their feedback if your honest0

I've looked at the photo, it shows 2 holes, neither of which I can possibly imagine both myself and hubby could miss, we're both conscientious and careful people.
However, I've offered a part refund, but I must admit to being pretty upset, I just can't imagine missing something like that but feel I should give the benefit of the doubt. in future I'll be inspecting my items I put on for sale in a paranoid fashion!0 -
I wouldn't entertain them on this if you are sure it wasn't there. I'm guessing the final sale price wasn't all that high so I would tell them they have to send it back via recorded delivery where they will receive a full refund, same as what paypal will give them if they win a dispute and they will still have to return them.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

thanks pitkin,
I am pretty much sure they weren't there, but it's sort of made me doubt myself. If the part refund isn't accepted then I'm asking for them back.0
