Warranty Direct

I am thinking of taking out a policy with Warranty Direct to cover my 5 year old car, as original guarantee has now expired for parts and labour
I have read reviews that show they do not cover for anything damaged by wear and tear, just wondered if anyone had experience of them.

Other car warranty companies seem to want to charge double WD annual fee

I would opt for their highest level of cover. I know a lot of people who have used them and they have paid out no problem. They wont cover things that normal people dont expect them to cover.

Hint or tip - go through to the very last page of getting a quote, enter all your details and at the very last screen 'cancel'. they will phone you back within 24 hours with a well reduced price AND give you 4 months to pay it off interest free.

Warranty Direct publish their wear and tear policy which is essentially reducing the % payout on the parts cost as mileage grows beyond 70,000 miles. 10% drop every 10,000 miles from 70,000 on.

Yes, I did quote online yesterday, and this morning had call back from salesperson offering higher level of cover and slight reduction in cost, plus option of 4 months interest free

What worries me is "wear and tear" exclusions in warranty...isnt everything on a car liable to breakdown due to wear and tear through age of the cars life?

I have read online reviews and some seem to have had a fair few problems when making a claim... thought to ask advice on this forum before I make decision....

Dont forget that warranty direct are the largest, so if you can find 50 online complaints how many tens of thousands are successful claims are they processing.

There is generally good logical reasons why they may decline a claim. One i saw was that the bulk head on the car had rusted through, the customer had done nothing about it, then the alternator or some other part got corroded by the water getting in. To me its logical they wont pay out on those circumstances.

Just search on this forum about WD and you'll see how many cases they refused to pay out.

They have several way out clauses. For example, if your window motor packs up, you need to first pay yourself to get the door pads removed etc.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.
