Definitely get better rate for zloty using debit card in ATM in Poland. We went skiing there at easter last year and this. Just took some zloty to start us off and then used ATM.
We drove to Czech for years with 3 children and a caravan. Best hols of our lives. Went all over the country over the years. Used to break journey en route, then on way back planned a couple of days stop somewhere near a theme park so had something to look forward to on homeward journey.
Obviously this was easier and cheaper with a caravan, but still do-able without.
