Am really hoping i can get no 11 today. Have been out into town but did not spent anything, am preparing dinner now so will not need any food. Not going to leave house again today so should be a nsd. Getting worried that i wont reach my target.

Did not happen yesterday as my dad came round to fix my toilet and then we had to go out to buy the replacement handle and lever. So while we were in Wickes we bought a new doorbell and a padlock too. When my dad fixed the toilet though it turned out the replacement handle and lever were not needed so am going to return these. Will i ever make no 11? I think i was being too optimistic with 18 as a target and i forgot how short the month is! :o Wont be making this mistake next month.

Was hoping that today would be NSD also but Emma is off to the cinema with friends this afternoon so I'll end up giving her money. x
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

  • I had a NSD on Wednesday and Monday this week. Trying hard !!

  • Reporting in, I've been missing in action, otherwise know as disorganised, I have just sat down with my diary and totted up my spending, worked out my NSD's so far and I'm pleased to say that I have reached 11. I must stay focused for the rest of the month and report back more frequently.

Was so close! I even went to the shops to pick something up for mum, but didn't get anything for myself. :T

But then I bought a train ticket online for next weekend, which I hadn't considered. Of course I could have put it off till tomorrow, but I'm a bit concerned that the cheap tickets will run out soon. So what I've done is more moneysaving.
Not sure I could have shown as much restraint unless I'd left my dosh at home Lollypop, but it is the bit about saving money that is the important part here. Well Done You!

Ooooh yess..I'm beginning to wonder why I said I'd go for 18 again sad3.gif & no, I won't be making the same mistake...not till NEXT February anyway :D

Hugs indeed Solvent..hugs all round methinks. We may be struggling a bit this month & perhaps some of that could be because we had such a good January what with the weather & all, but that doesn't mean we have to chuck it all in now. C'mon folks! Together we can still stick two fingers up at the corporate fat cats & make a weeny dent in their slush funds 2thumbsup.gif

  • hi all, sorry it's been so ridiculously long since my last post, but have skimmed through and looks like evryone is doing pretty well and showing restraint one way or another..
have been through the diary, and i'm up to my 14th NSD!! Almost every day for the last week, although I failed last friday, as i had a day off, so used it to do all my errands, posting, and withdraw the cash i owed to a friend, as i knew i had a meal out that night as well..and saturday i went shopping in the sales with a firend, but managed to keep my purchases to under £25..which i had made from surveys, and selling my excess jewellery through my blog over the past week or so, so i didn't feel too guilty about that..
also, i was so proud, managed to get my whole week's food shopping on vouchers alone on sunday, which was great (and down to furious price calcs all the way round..in the end it came to £4.02, and my sis paid the 2p!
think i should be able to manage another today..well on my way to 20 it would seem :)

Well said BigMumma - even if we don't all make our targets this month, any NSDs are a bonus and, as you say, make a dent in the slush funds of the corporate fat cats - and that's got to be good :j:j

Wow, piratefairy, I'm impressed - do you want to come shopping with me next week?

:D hehe, well i knew that i am away at the weekend, so not so many days, and i have a lot of meals already prepared and in the freezer, so i made a proper list of essentials - it's been a tight money month, and i've been advising the ex to do a meal plan to cut down his food costs, so thought i better practice what i was preaching (plus there's only one of me at my house..)
  • Hi Guys

How is everyone doing? It's a tough month isn't it. I was having a bit of a tantrum about my NSD's last week but haven't been too bad this week and now have managed 12 out of my targeted 17. So 5 more NSD's to grab from 9 possible days. Yikes.

This weekend will be spending - I at least need petrol, fruit and a night out. Still have some freezer meals left for next week so hopefully I can try and put off a proper food shop until the week after. That would be amazing as my last full shop was 17/01. I have bought food since but only fruit and milk to tide me over.

Oh and BigMummaF I love you because you saved my life last night (cause clearly I would die without an evening meal). Had forgotten to defrost so used one of your suggestions - Pasta, Frozen Veg, Cheese all made even more scrummy with some out of date pine-nuts and a blob of pesto that had had the mold scrapped off the top

Piratefairy - I love your name as well as Rubiesr4eva's name because despite the fairy element it reminds me of the Pirate King song from Gilbert & Sullivan's 'Pirates of Penzance'....most particularly the Kevin Kline performance in the 1983 film of the same name. He wears Leather pants, and does a lot of striding about and swash buckling, manly chest on show. So every time I see a post from you I involuntarily have a Pirate King moment. It really does give me a bit of a boost. ;) Hmmmmm might just nip over to You Tube and cheer up my friday afternoon (sat at work with a miserable attitude and banging headache)

'For I am a Pirrrrate KINNNNNNNNNG! and it is it is a glorious thing to be a Pirate King' Oh yes Kevin I most definitely agree.
