Day 5 for me - only 14 days to get another 10 NSD's in - oops!! Only my second month tho - I'm trying to plan meals but keep running out of stupid things like onions, which seems to end up spending over a fiver in the shop. Had a large blip last weekend (our ancient jack russell has gone missing, still not found ) so all moneysaving etc went totally out of the window.
Well done to everyone, keep up the good work!!
Trying to jump back onto the moneysaving wagon ....
  • I have had another NSD today. :)

No Spend Weekend for me :T

Been a tough one today though, as there were lots of bakery reductions that the colleague I was in with knows I normally grab - so as she was reducing them she asked if I wanted any putting aside..... Looked amazed when I declined ;)

Now on 9 for the challenge (with 7 of them being Total No Spend days, and the last 3 days being 3 in a row :D ).

No. 6 for me today, had no.5 yesterday - was supposed to go out with friend but she cancelled and then I couldnt be bothered to go out (I would rather hit the shops in the week when its quieter).
  • I am so rubbish at NSD's. I keep needing things. Banana's. I'm always having a banana crisis. The good news is, is that I haven't had to do a Big Shop for a month and for my main evening meals I've lived out of the freezer. But even so I don't seem able to avoid daily spending.

    Thursday was ooooohh guess what........bananas
Friday I bought some tickets for a charity party that I can't even go to
Yesterday was a chinese takeaway with family
Today was petrol (Yes I know I should have got it yesterday but didn't seem to get chance and then today couldn't wait until tomorrow!!!!!)
    Tomorrow.....will need some ruddy bananas.

Today wasn't so bad - we (work) have a colleague from our Indian office visiting so I took him out and showed him the wonders of Manchester today (which my BF reeeaaalllly appreciated on V day :rotfl:) but it did mean that the ridiculous parking fee and lunch for 3 of us I can claim back from work. I asked him if there was anywhere at all he would like to go...Chester, Liverpool, Chatsworth. But no all he wanted to do was shop in Primark. Primark!!!!! Back home he has a Chaffeur and house servants but here he couldn't justify spending £20 on a coat in Primark for his wife. Determined to show him something of Manchester's rich victorian heritage I marched him round the John Rylands Library (free) and then threatened him with 2 hours looking at the pre-Raphelite paintings in the Art Gallery. Naaahhh not even I am that mean (Although they are pretty spesh and also free if anyone ever fancies it). There was a Chinese NY celebration on so that was good to see also.

Have craftily arranged to eat out for the next 3 nights. Tomorrow a friend (I cooked last time), Tuesday my mums (PANCAKES) and Wednesday at another Pal (He hates my cooking so I never have to reciprocate :D. Suits me!). Thursday I will have to fend for myself (Freezer surprise! I can't remember what on earth those bags of red stuff are any more) and then off to BF's on Friday for weekend so think the big shop can wait until next Monday evening. Hurragggh!

Sounds like everyone else is doin' okay with their NSD's. Sulk
  • Good afternoon everyone

NSD 6/20 for me lol. What a miserable attempt this month, but pleased to say that it is still No Smoking Day 6! No problem, will have to try harder at the NSDs next month! ;o)

    Cheers

Fab news! I'd rather hear of you having a no ciggie day than a NSD to be honest. Well done

Broke my own NSD rules today, so a spend for me - ended up going to two different shops for groceries (only because I knew Farmfoods had a megga special offer on milk, bread and loo roll - so I stocked up with two weeks worth). I over spent on groceries too, however, think I've almost got enough to keep me going for a fortnight, so should be okay. Might need to start watering down the milk again though!

When payday comes around, I'm going to change the way my 'month' works, as I get paid on the last Thursday of the month, so could be the last day, but more often than not, it's some other random day - and that's the way the finances seem to work better - I'll finish off Feb up until then, but don't think I'll get to 18, but will keep trying!!!

Other spends today included church plate, SVdP donation and a couple of house DIY bits and bobs as part of my "make my house better" scheme!

See you all tomorrow, and well done to those keeping on track.

Am off this week so am hopeing that I can reach my target of 8 by the end of the week....but mussent tempt fate too much

Its been a good day today, mum and dad came round their boiler has broken so came round to me for lunch and a warm, as we were sitting round the telly watching the rugby a friend come round with a whole load of coal and logs enough to see me through to spring. A chap he knows wanted to get rid of his coal bunker in his garden so was looking to get rid of the coal and logs in it. So it was a wonderful suprise, free heating for a while:T:T:T
Good company, good food, all round the fire. How much better can it get.Shame about the rugby. Not a good match dispite the result.
