it normally goes to a holding account before being allocated to the actual credit card. unless they can see you have made payments before from the same account then it will prob just stay in the holding account until you inform them. don't worry though, they will be able to trace it0

Yeah you'll need to inform them of the exact amount of the payment then they will transfer it from the holding account to your CC account. Don't know how long it might take, worth asking them if you need to make another payment (with the reference this time!!) to cover you in case it takes a while to trace the misplaced payment from their holding account

I foolishly did something similar years ago. The technical name for where the money goes until the problem is sorted out is a SUSPENSE ACCOUNT. As others have said, you should be OK in the end.Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

I phoned egg they said I have to phone my bank. Phoned the bank they said egg should make the payment bounce, and I have to wait ten working days. Then the money should be back in my account. I've made another payment so I'll just have to see what happens in ten days.
