Trying for a Baby part 5....

Hello everyone,
I am a regular user but set up a new username just for privacy for now until we decide...
We are talking about getting pregnant, and I stopped the pill several months ago. I take thyroxine for low thyroid function but it's all levelled out now so we're free to make a start.
My question is, apart from all the charting on sites like Fertility Friends, is the main thing to just have nookie as much as possible during the days the cervical fluid changes ie: when nearly ovulating? It's something I can easily see without doing all the temperature monitoring / chart stuff.
Obviously if it gets to the point where the fun alone isn't enough, I'll give the charting a go, just wondered what everyone else thought!
PS: Also, *if* we were to get lucky at some stage, what symptoms might I expect once implantation begins?
PSS: Are the cheapy ebay pregnancy tests ok? Chemist costs are way too high...:):)

Congratulations Teenie!!!!! I'm soo excited for you!Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck
Phase 1 - Emergency Fund - Complete :j
Phase 2 - £20,000 Mortgage Fund - Underway0 -
I feel really cr*p doing this as so many of you haven't had great news but I got my BF:j:j:jP!
In a state of shock in one way, but 'just knew' that I was, sounds silly and can't explain it, female intuition I suppose.
I presume all the cramping I have been getting is egg settling down?
I haven't been trying for long and I'm obviously excited (or I will be when it sinks in) but I feel really bad for everyone else
Anyway enough of that will see you all very soon on the other side.:D
:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:jCongratulations!!!!!!Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
What CD are u on EA?
Umm, CD23 i think.Better get back to work, if I can concentrate and drink loads since I have been trying not to drink and wee as advised by EA :rotfl:
Its only so it didn't water down any hcg
Another bit of advice, early pregnancy makes you pee like its one tube from your mouth to your foof. So try not to over drink :rotfl:
At your first scan, instead of drinking loads for a full bladder, just dont go for about 4 hours.
I found not going was easier than drinking a 2 ltr bottle of water
Edit: Forgot to add, CONGRATS!!!0 -
ashbart, ssing is symptom spotting. We discourage that, since PMS is exactly same as early pg symptoms. But we all do that regardless:o
must_try_harder, welcome! How long have you been ttc?
No-one close to me asks me about babies since I had a miscarriage last year:o
sparkle76, welcome! One is supposed to BD every other day.
Once you start to get ewcm, do more often if possible:p
I'd say next step would be to get one of those cheap IC OPKs like this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001G7STT0/ref=pd_luc_mri?ie=UTF8&m=A4DI4ZJ5WTRP7
Similar cheap hpt would be a good idea if you are prone to testing too early:o People tend to get the expensive digital one once they get some sort of a line on cheap hpts. If you can wait out the 2ww, then Superdrug own brand one seems to be the best early hpt.
Temping is good for those who wants to know for sure that ov is over, and can relax (ie me):p It is not good for predicting ov;)0 -
Thank you QQuaver and sorry to hear about your loss last year hun, must be so hard for you if no-one talks about it but maybe it helps being on here if you are trying again at last you can talk about it openly.
Well we're right at the start so no expectations as of yet, not even sure if we should start this month or leave it a couple of months, but then again I think we can't keep having reasons to leave it. My driving test comes up in October so I guess I'll be stressed, which is why I'm not sure about what to do.
Based on my last AF starting on 3rd Aug (properly on 4th Aug) online calculators said 15/16th ish for ovulation so we did practice runs Saturday and Sundaybut with no expectations in case we got wrong days plus I'm allowing for stressy times in October too so might be best to start properly in mid October after driving test(s!).
I must learn my abbreviations - not sure what ewcm is!
Trying to plan what we'd like to have cash wise in the bank as an essential once baby were born - anyone got ideas on this? I;d definately be moneysaving all the way, using Freecycle etc, but wanted a cash estimate from savvy folk here!:):)

Thanks Q. So sorry about your miscarriage.
I stopped taking the pill about 3 and a half years ago because I knew it could take a while for your fertility to return and I didn't know if/when we'd want to start trying for a family. A year after coming off the pill we adopted the "what will be will be" attitude. So weren't specifically trying, but weren't trying not to either. Then for the last year we've been trying harder so I'm not sure what actually counts as the ttc length of time.
We have a variety of tests booked in for the next month or so, because at the moment we don't have any idea why we're struggling to conceive (although my OH is convinced it's due to him and that's why we've only recently gone to the doctors). Hopefully that will at least let us know where we stand.0 -
Thanks sparkle76 & must_try_harder re my mc.
Actually I recovered amazingly quickly, and I have no objections to talking about mc or babies, mine or otherwise:p I don't mind seeing babies or pregnant ladies, it's like I'm pretty normal:whistle:
The mc op was 15th August last year, but I've only realised it yesterday:o I was planning on lighting a candle etc, but ahem, it's gone:doh:
Here's some abbreviations:
CD - Cycle date (CD1 is the 1st day of period)
DPO - Days past ovulation (if ovulation was on CD15, then that is 0DPO, CD16 is 1DPO)
IC - Internet cheapie (IC OPKs, hpts)
OV - ovulation
OPK - ovulation predictor kits
SS - symptom spotting
BD - Baby dance (making babies)
AF - Aunt Flo (period)
CBFM - Clearblue fertility monitor
Temp - temperature (BBT)
SBDTA - Sticky baby dust to all
There's more on the 1st page of this thread.
As for timing for making babies, there's never a good time, so I'd get straight on it, not trying but not preventing so to speak:p Let nature decide:)
Ofcourse, if it takes some time, you may end up like me, with charting temps and doing OPKs:p
I've had some tests done, blood tests, ultrasound and DH's test for swimmers. My cycles were always irregular, and it turned out I have PCO (polycystic ovaries), but without the associated hormone, insulin, weight, acne etc probs. I've been taking Clomid to regulate ovulation.
DH's swimmers is quite gravely problematic, with only 1% normal shaped swimmers:o
Never mind, we'll get there somehow:cool:0 -
:j:jWoohoo Teenie, many congrats hun:j You've always been a fantastic support to us on here, will miss you, please lurk!!
Welcome Sparkle, Must Try Harder and ...Womble and anyone else I've missed, hope your stays are short, but have fun with your OH's and us along the way.
GTS....I know there are words that can help right now, was thinking of you yesterday. I think I cried all day and all night when found out. I actually wish i could have gone completely and Its such a horrid feeling knowing its you and wondering why or what you could have done for things to be different. But, you're strong and determined, I'm sure you'll get something soon, you've a fab OH and hopefully you'll get your much wanted BFP soon.
Hugs to those who the witch has decided to visit, QQ, EA and anyone else due to OV, COME ON OVARIES!!
Sorry went AWOL yesterday, felt really ill again, headaches and flu aches, had to leave work early as felt so bad. Fortunately feeling better today. I don't like taking painkillers but have no choice at moment:(
And on TTC news CD12 and day 2 of being high, BD this morning. Need some more CBFM sticks....will not be very MSE and get them from Boots . Oh well...it may be the last lot needed, who knows!! See a bit PMA!!
xx:heart2:Baby boy madbird arrived 15/06/11 by emergency csection weighing 9lb 13oz:eek: love him so much xx:heart2:0 -
Thanks MTH, QQ and madbird. I am realising that timing is the last of our worries to some extent, if we are lucky to even fall pregnant within the first 12 months. That being the case DH amy get lucky again tonight
! Wonder how long the novelty will take to wear off
