I got what turned out to be quite a strong positive line but then AF turned up the next day
    Strong positive line?
Was your AF normal? Not lighter/shorter than usual?
Also, could you have had a chemical pregnancy?

It started out faint and then got darker and darker - within an hour it was a pretty strong line. I did 2 more tests later that day which were both negative and then AF arrived - pretty normal AF - she only ever stays about 3 days and it was just as full on as normal...if anything more painful than normal but I think that's just my mind playing tricks on me because I was disappointed! I'm sure it was either a dodgy test or a dodgy sample :(

Not sure what a chemical pg is?! I'll google it!

Ok Googled it & I'm not sure. Might have been because although I had 2 neg tests before AF arrived, they were the least sensitive of the tests that I did. I dunno really...AF seemed quite run of the mill and arrived bang on time so maybe not (insert shrugging smilie!). I hope not.

This thread is so chatty these days I struggle to keep up, how do you all fine the time?

I'm CD15, opks failed to show ov again this month, so I'm done with cheapies. Purchased a CBFM on ebay for next month onwards. Noticed on ebay the ones that said "only used for 1 month then got BFP" got higher bids. Me being MS went for one who's seller was moving on to ivf - hope it's not unlucky for me too!!!

Hi Sparkle1980! Just wanted to say, please don't get your hopes up too much. You only have a small chance of getting pregnant (i think i've read 20% maybe), even if you did DTD at exactly the right time. There are lots of things that need to happen just right in order to get that magical BFP. After all, if it was that easy, we wouldn't all be here would we!

Of course, you could be incredibly lucky and get pregnant on your first try, but it could also easily take 12 months +. The best thing to do would be to try not to think about it too much in the 2ww (2 week wait up to AF (your period)). But that is much easier said than done!!

Seriously? Only a 20% of getting PG if you DTD at the time of OV? :( (is it me or does that look like some kind of secret code :p)

Yep, I'm afraid so. Just did a quick google and the first link said

"Getting pregnant isn’t always easy. Very few couples conceive on the first try. In fact, even if everything is absolutely in perfect working order, you only have a 20-25% chance of conception each month."

    This is from http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/getting-pregnant.html

Much better to know this though than to expect it to happen straight away and have major disappointment each month.

    Hi Maddie,
    thanks for your message Hun.
I totally understand what you're saying - and I am making sure I keep a tight rein on myself with the testing business. I honestly think I didn't OV and that I just had a spike in temp for some other reason - so not getting my hopes up too much - but am glad to be learning so much from you all as to what to be looking for and what to be doing and when.
I'm trying not to get too wrapped up in it all to be honest cos I have this lovely little dream that I'll just find out randomly one month that I'm pregnant and it won't have been because we so closely monitored when we should DTD and then tested at the first possible opportunity and so on. I guess I want the fairytale of getting preg without it being too clinical - if that makes sense.... But then I also fear that I've already armed myself with so much info that to go back to the not-knowing, un-clinical-ness would be impossible - so I'm taking it all quite easily at the mo - well, trying anyway!! ;)

Nice to see someone local online - I'm from Sheff too :)

anyway my bath calls - thanks again hun

Ha ha ha, I would have no chance of that dream! It would be nice to find out you were pregnant quite late though - thus less of the first 12 weeks left to worry.

    Whereabouts in Sheff are you?

  • Hi Maddie,
Well, I actually live in Roth, but work in the centre of Sheffield.
