peeling laquer?

My much loved '95 BMW Series 5 Touring has developed some patches of peeling laquer (due to some extent I think to my 'helpful' OH trying to shift the snow with a plastic shovel :( )

The majority of the body work is good - very little rust at all, just some tiny bubbles at the top of the drivers side door.

What can be done for it?
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

  • If it's small areas of peel then we normally feather the edges of the peel down with wet/dry and re laquer. Saves having to paint a full pannel.
  • We have a 95 corsa with the same problem on the bonnet, too late to help though, the recent snow got under the lacquer and it peeled off in sheets as the snow came of.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Not if it isn't done properly the first time around, ( a ) it will look dreadful and ( b ) probably require doing again in about 6 months time.

    So not very MS.:(

Personally I would just leave it alone. It's a 15 year old car and the MS thing to do is leave it well alone.
