Transfer more than the balance?

Quick question; Is it possible to transfer £2000 from my new Egg card onto my M & S card which only has £1500 outstanding? Do they check the balance and only pay that off, or will they just transfer the requested amount?
Many thanks

Depends on whether M&S cards accept a credit balance.
If not they will return the whole amount.

Why risk it when there are better options available to you?

    Option1:

Transfer £1,500 to M&S and the other £500 directly to your current account*.

    Option 2:

Transfer the entire £2,000 directly to your current account* and settle the M&S card from there.

    * The current account option is explained in your T&Cs and in the Egg card FAQ section on their website.
