child tax credit.I've been a wally!!

to cut a long story short, wife was ill last january and i dealt with the child tax credit forms.... should have left em alone!! i gave my income amount as my gross figure not my net profit figure, this has cost us a good bit of money. rang them today and gave them the revised figure , the 'kind ' gent told me i could not backdate the claim for april 08 to april09..... do any of you kind people know if this is this right?

I'm gonna be in trouble for this i fear !!!!!!!!:mad:

    she is ok thanks. surgery didn't completely cure problems but its 95% sorted, enough for a normal kind of life :-)

    just had the letter back today . not going to back date anything ,got a polite sod off !!!! not a happy bunny couple of grand lost, wife is not happy :-(... gonna ring em and have a rant,i know its my fault but i still am !!

    I reckon with your wife's secret credit card debt and you're mistake at the same time with CTC you are now even lol! It's annoying but just mark it down to experience. No point wasting energy on what you can't change imo.

    That would be very rude of you. Perhaps you should be ranting at yourself, not someone who has done nothing wrong?

    Perhaps you should try to be grateful for other people going to work to pay tax so that child tax credits are available to you in the first place.
