Missed Payments (Mortgage Application)

Hi all,
I will be applying for a mortgage shortly, and will be seeing a whole of market mortage advisor. I have been reading and reading up on this forum and others for as much information as I can before I make my application for a mortgage...
I have 2 missed payments in the last 12 months on a credit card, and 8 missed payments prior to that. Will the mortgage company just look at the missed payments within the last 12 months or will they dig deeper to beyond the last 12 months?
Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated!
Cheers

Hmm I think you will struggle to secure a mortgage...regardless of how large a deposit you have and how high your earnings are....still see an adviser by all means but be prepared for a negative outcome.......0

To the OP - you haven't given enough info.
Firstly what is your situation - first time buyer, remortgage etc.?
What mortgage amount are you looking for and what property value?
Any other adverse? Did the 8 missed go to default?0 -
Thanks for the quick reply,
Myself and my partner are first time buyers, both graduates. I have no other adverse credit , they were just missed payments. Showing as 1's on my credit profile. We have a 10% deposit for a property of <150k, I have no other outstanding debt.
Both in full time employment obviously with a joint income of 40k. Partner has a perfect credit profile and my last credit score on experian was 888 (Good). Do you really think there is no chance? If so then there would be no point in trying to secure a mortgage as it would just damage my profile.0 -
Evening, any more advice on my original post? Any would be appreciated! Thanks guys0

Hi
Id say your in a fair position your partner has a clear credit history, just be up front often a brooker will talk to lenders on face value, obviously not as they done before, but you have a deposit id say joint income of 40k, what have you got to lose any way!
All the best0 -
Do you think people are not Q'ing to reply because seeing an advisor is the obvious way forward with 2 missed and 8 late payments! What other option would be open to you????
Regarding your credit history, when you apply for a mortgage.... a Decision in Principle is applied for electronically.... this searches your credit history for the last 6years . The purpose of this is to see how you conduct your credit0 -
Thanks for the constructive comments, I guess I was looking for some thoughts and opinions on here becuase there are a fair few of you who seem to be in the know.
I am trying to get a few thoughts together before approaching an advisor because I would rather start off on the right foot... not going to get my hopes up to have them put straight down with a no! I have to think about my partner too as Iam sure a lot of other people have the same worry. She has conducted herself in a perfect manner credit wise and I would feel so bad about letting her down because of my previous mistakes.
I think I will be using London and Country by the way as our advisor, read up quite a bit about them and they seem very good!
Oh a couple of months ago I had a meeting with the HSBC, they left a footprint on my profile after a credit search so I guess I've already passed the first hurdle, I think the advisor called it a surface check!
I just wish I could of told myself 2 years ago how important it was to not pay late on a CC. I just want to say to the lender "I was young and ignorant, if I miss a payment on my mortgage I am out on the street so its not going to happen!"0
