cost of building on a flat roof

Options
hi all,
i've just joined so hope i'm in the right place. i have a bog standard semi detached house with pitched roof. it has a ground floor, flat roof extension on the side built at same time of main house. it's 6 metre x 3 and half metres. i'd like to have a 1st floor extension built on it. with a pitched roof to join the existing roof. so the query is , i only want a 'shell job' . would builders be happy to do that? i know their profits come in complete jobs. so their work would be the cost of house bricks, breeze blocks, rectocill insulation, four 1 x 2 metre dg upvc windows, 1 patio door, 5 rsj's, spiral staircase, roof timbers and tiles. Plus their labour of course.
i know this is all a tad vague but would anyone have an idea of how many £1000's this would be? approx of course !
thanks
Deb

its not that simple. you will need to find out if the footings will support another storey on top.
this will usually entail digging an inspection trench next to the the present wall/s.

re the actual building work. any/most builders will quote for what you actually want and no more.
shell build cost are about 600/1000/1500 per sq m.
    depending where you live.

hi, thanks for that, yes i'd have to check the depth of footings, but as it was built same time as house by same company i assume the footing be be same. but still a trench will have to be dug. i live in Staines, nr Heathrow so think the price per sq m would be the higher end.
    thx
