Problem with Baxi boiler

Hi,
Hoping some of the central heating engineers can help me out with this. I had a Baxi Combi 105e boiler installed back in November 2002. Just recently there's been a neon ligh flashing at the 60c mark, and there's no hot water. According to the user guide it says it's either a fault on the pump or low pressure. The pressure has always remained on 1.5. I have always had to turn the boiler off, and then on again to get hot water working again. This has to be done on numerous occassions throughout the day.
Another fault that has developed is that when i have a bath/shower, the water keeps fluctuating from hot to cold.
Could this have something to do with the neon light flashing.
I'll be booking the boiler in for it's annual service in a few weeks time, but just wanted to have an idea what could be wrong with it.
Any info and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The pump pumps water round the central heating system. The pressure gauge measures the pressure in the radiators. Neither of these have anything to do with the hot water side. The pressure for hot water comes from the mains. My guess is something to do with the diverter valve. If you have a copy of the manufacturers instructions ( about 50 pages obtainable from their website), there are fault finding guides at the back. This should give you some idea as to the actual fault but leave the repair work to a competent gas bloke.

it could be a number of things ..if you look in the intructions it will give you a step by step guide on what could be wrong ..

there is a detailed fault finding chart near the back..

Thanks for the advice. I've booked the boiler in for it's annual service on the 9th Feb, so I'll ask the engineer if it could be the diverter valve that could be causing the problem. Do you have any idea of an estimate cost for changing this component?

Like i said the the flashing neon light indicates a fault with the pump or low pressure, according to the manual. So if it's the pump, how much approx would it cost to change that?

I wouldn't even attempt to mess round with the boiler, esp since I haven't a clue about gas and central heating, etc

    Thanks again

That would happen if pump proving at the diverter valve is sticking. I too suspect the diverter.

  • Hi,
Just an update on the Baxi 105e boiler. The 2 problems has now been fixed. The DHW heat exchanger was replaced and the micro switch just needed some grease on it to lubricate it.
    Thanks
