Hi,
Does anyone know what the regulations are for leaving a gap between the bath and a toilet?
We have an ensuite with shower and we want to change this to a bath but this will mean moving the sink to the same wall as the toilet and the guy that came to quote didn't make alot if sense and said that we need to leave a certain gap between these but couldn't tell us what it was:huh:

I wouldnt suppose for a moment that there are regulations.
And i cant think why on earth there would be.
It really would be just down to the practicalities in your particular bathroom.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
These regulations obviously didn't apply when my house was built, my bathroom is only just over 5' wide and the bath, sink and toilet are all next to each other with virtually no gap between them.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £30,358.130

Thank you, to be honest he didn't make an awful lot of sense:o It is a new build property so the shower etc is perfectly fine but I want a bath. We measured and it was all fine, we realised that it would be more cost etc and got him out to quote and he gave us a quote but when we checked it it was a quote for a new bigger shower??? then he went on about the space etc0

our bathroom is also approx 6x6 ft.
we have a bath, basin and loo all along one wall. very close and no gaps.Get some gorm.0 -
My gap betwen bath and lav is 27cm (I've just measured it). As it's a HA property and new bathroom suite was installed 2 years ago I would guess that narrow a gap is kosher. One point, would the loo stay exactly where it is, or is the plumber thinking he'll have to shift the outlet?.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I think the toilet was quoted as staying where it is and for comfort I don't think we would want it any closer to the wall but when I measure it all it seems fine but I am no expert:o
I think I will contact another plumber:)0 -
There is no legal requirement, the only criteria would be there is enough room for access and if a toilet is involved, enough room to sit down! You could get a slim (studio) bath, which would give you more length.0

Just to add. it could be just his way of saying he doesn't want to have to move the soil pipe!0

I have re-measured it and it is 171cm by 177 cm....quite small:o0
